As Promised®, I have a week one song. Obviously, I still owe 5 or 6 more songs, depending on how you count the weeks, those are coming... I just replaced my audio interface in the studio, so stuff should be forthcoming as I am always excited to use new gear. Unlike I said last month, this is a Brand New Track™. I am calling it Body of Parts, for now, unless I come up with something better, but that is unlikely. Also, it is a short one. If you download it and play it in iTunes (and likely others) you will notice that there is album artwork. This artwork was drawn by my youngest spawn, although not commissioned, on her chalkboard, and looks like this:

Yikes, am I bad or what? I really don't seem to have the time to do all the stuff I want to, but I will try. Watch later this week for song one, week one, and then I will try and catch up to all of this by the end of the month (of March, probably). Cosmic Primitive should be operational soon, and I have a secret special video for everyone that I am saving for the right time. The right time is not likely for a few months from now at least, but I have to put a teaser here now. At least I am getting something done.

I know. If you come here at all (which would be remarkable in and of itself, given my propensity for ignoring this website), you were hoping to see the first song posted or some such thing. I will get to that in a minute.
The thing is this: I haven't really finished a complete song for this project. It occured to me that I do this ("this" being what appears to be procrastinating on a finished project) a lot, mostly due to time constraints, but largely due to the sheer number of things I tend to be involved in at any given moment. I am usually writing, simultaneously and on top of everything else, no less than twenty to thirty different things. Not that this is a particularly unique or amazing gift, because it isn't, I just have difficulty keeping up with it all. I blame time, which is imaginary, along with money, also imaginary. Perhaps we can go over that some other time...
The solution to this problem came to me the other day, while I was trying to work on the actual new song; you might consider it cheating a bit, but I have convinced myself otherwise. I am going to complete and finish some of my previous work. I will have something posted before the end of this week, and while it is not an entirely new song, I did only write it last summer. I was even able to perform it once. In Los Angeles, with some form of the band Bruce. Neat, if nothing else.
Needless to say, it needs some remixing, and perhaps a new vocal track. I think I should be able to get to that this evening, remix it and have it in your digital paws by tomorrow or so. I may keep this up for a few weeks, as I have decided it will be good to have a baseline to reference progress through the year. I am trying to modify my ability and sensibility with regards to songwriting, what a song is, and methods to fine tune the process of songwriting. This will be helpful, honest!
Soon!

Hi.
There hasn't been a site worth looking at here in a while. I still can't promise that it will be. For now, I am going for a circa 1991 look to the site, but here is the thing: I intend to be a lot more motivated about these sorts of things. While I may not post a regular blog here, I am designing a new fancy looking site to put up here. I also intend to update it from time to time. There is a lot going on, and here is a rough map of the goings on:
I have been working for myself since graduation, while not terribly profitable, it has a certain job security... this takes up a good portion of my time. I am looking for other employment as well, but it will happen when it is supposed to, at which point I imagine I will have even less time to do all this stuff.
Cosmic Primitive, the record label that Neptune Research and Gelatinous Goo Productions have been scheming, should becoming operational and live by the end of February or so. Hopefully earlier. Probably not. In case you couldn't or didn't want to figure it out, Neptune Research is operated by Five, and Gelatinous Goo Productions is the name of the company I own (at least, in my head) that umbrellas everything I do. Speaking of which, there should also be a real live Gelatinous Goo website in roughly the same time frame as above. Lots of coding is in my future. Cosmic Primitive's goals, at least in the beginning, are going to be a vehicle through which Five and I can market and promote our own musical adventures. We are the first artists on the roster, however, we are not limiting the scope to us alone.
About a year ago or so, my old school friend Matt took on this project that required him to write and release a song every week. While I did not actually keep up with what Matt did all year, the project fascinated me on many levels. There is so much to learn from a project, and my already skewed ideas as to what defines and can be classified as a song need to be shaken up. So I think this means that I am going to shoot to do something similar this year. 52 songs in a year is not really all that bad, I am sure that I can do it, the problem that I am going to run into is a weekly deadline. So, in fairness to how I know I work, I am going to write 52 songs this year, and only marginally attempt to do it about once a week. I will begin posting results here soon. After Cosmic Primitive becomes functional, they will start appearing there as well.
I am in a band again! We do not have a myspace page, nor are we on facebook. We do not gig, and do not have a CD. But we do exist (at least according to this). The Albino Rhino will rise. There will be more news about this as news becomes reality.
Did I mention I am in a band again. We do not practice, have a myspace page or gigs. Or anything at all. We are a Tom Waits cover band. Someday, we will exist, although we dont at the moment. This will happen. Someday. The gears are being assembled as we speak, and when news becomes reality, I will report it here.
Ok, the last two paragraphs were almost the same, but about two seperate projects, in case it wasn't obvious. I will stop with the roadmap here, since it is already making me dizzy, just come back and watch for more, it should be a fun decade.
