Synchronicity
Thursday, 26 June 2008
The near exponential increase of synchronicity in my life is beginning to alarm me. I am usually able to flow with the stream relatively easily, but it is a little jarring these days. The "cosmic giggles" are turning into laughter...
As an example, I went to wikipedia the other day to find some statistics on the town I live in (well, not really, but I have an address there). Underneath the "Notable Residents" section, there is an individual responsible for librarian.net. I will leave the details for your own exploration, but the gist is this: Meggan and I met her that evening, and she has lived in Seattle, where Five used to live (and still seems to be rooted though displaced, but that is another discussion). While writing this, SomaFM started playing the artist Gel-Sol, a tune called Numby Numbs that I was really digging, and he is, rather alarmingly, also from Seattle.
Mind you, this instance alone is not much to alarm me, but the rate and frequency of events like this are at an all time high. I should note that I have never looked at the wikipedia definition of synchronicity until today, and almost everything in it is something that is terribly pertinent and/or current to my life. I won't even get into some of the heavier stuff going on. Meggan has noticed these events as well, so it is not just happening to me. I am going to have to do some more research and report back my findings.
I am going to note, as the month closes out, that I am not getting nearly as much done as I would have hoped by now. I have finally mic'ed up my drum kit in a more or less permanent way, so the recordings shall commence. I am giving a number of recent compositions to Meggan. Those coupled with some of her own, and some that are not written yet will amount to some serious work on her album. I am going to put my next solo adventure a little bit on the back burner, because Five and I have a surprise for you all before the end of the year, I promise.

What!?!?!

Well, it turns out that I tend to eat European Style. We discovered this today after I was told that I was eating my pizza "incorrectly," which I didn't buy in the least. My father apparently uses the "Zig Zag Method." My mother bucks all trends and uses her fingers to eat pizza. This and other interesting things can be discovered here: How to Use a Knife, Fork, and Spoon. This should settle some arguments...
I am also considering redesigning my site, but only a little bit. It will mostly follow the same sort of flow, but with some different looks. This is one possiblility, a different look, but not necessarily the final one. I don't know why I am so hell bent on changing it again, since it wasn't that long ago that I did it last, and haven't even finished all the updates that I had planned. I suspect that it has to do with my need to learn more PHP and CSS. Let me know what you think, and beware, none of the links actually work on the thing, it is merely a layout idea. With some text. I like the rounded corners, I am a geek, after all.

Seriously

It seems that Barack Obama is the Democratic candidate for our next president, and I think I am mostly good with that, for now. I know that the reality of someone like him actually winning seems unlikely, because they do what they want to, those in power, and have a track record for doing it successfully. I recommend
At any rate, I am mostly updating this at the moment to try out this new program I just downloaded called Coda, by Panic software. It seems kind of cool. Check it out for those of you who are partial to hand coding your website. The copy from the website says it all, "our web workflow was wonky." Mine is too. Such as it is...
So you may notice that the gigs have mostly disappeared. This is due to my ceded my position in the Eric Lindberg Band. I am sad to do it, and was greatly looking forward to playing out in general, but my time constraints make it impossible for me to do it properly. That said, I am looking to do some playing out this summer, so keep an eye on that box. I am making every effort to put some things there. In the meantime, go check out Eric's band, it will be badass, I promise.
I will let you know as things develop, as always...
